AIAA Design, Build, Fly (2023 and Prior)

Previously, under the name University of Glagow Design, Build, Fly (UGDBF), the society competed at the AIAA Design, Build, Fly competition annually held in the USA. The team had a rich history in the competition, competing for more than 10 years and securing some very respectable results for a team with a modest budget. Most recently, the team finished 68th out of the 100 teams that made it to the fly-off in April 2023 with an aircraft that only cost £500 to manufacture. 

In August 2023, the society decided to embark on a new chapter, to set sights on new ambitions and new shores. The cost of the logistics required to compete in the USA each year had heavily restricted the budget of the aircraft. To solve this issue, the society decided to begin competing at European competitions instead, beginning with the Air Cargo Challenge (ACC). Along with this paradigm shift, the society was rebranded to University of Glasgow Aeronautics (UGA). So far, this new chapter in our story has been a resounding success.
